Eurycantha calcarata
Male
A very strong phasmid. He's different from the other phasmids with
its behaviour. During the day they sleep together at the bottom of the
cage. In the night, the males sometimes hit the ground with their abdomen,
and they sometimes fight each other, with their big thorn on the legs.
They could be seriously wounded like this. Fortunately they don't use that
thorn on our hands.
The female lays the eggs in the ground, so sand or mould must be available
for them. Youngs will go out by themselves. The sand or mould must be a
little moist
